Winter is one of the most expensive times of year. If you are worrying about money, you might be entitled to some additional financial support.
Winter Fuel Payment
This is an annual tax-free payment to help with heating costs. Make sure you are registered to get it – once you are, you will receive it every year without having to do anything.
Cold Weather Payment
If it is very cold where you live (at or below 0 degrees) for a period of time, and you’re receiving certain benefits, you may be eligible to receive £25 a week for each 7-day period of cold weather.
Warm Home Discount
This is a discount on your electricity bill. You may able to get this if you are in receipt of Pension Credit or on a low income.
Cost of Living Payments
These are one-off payments for households on means-tested benefits, such as Pension Credit.
Disability Cost of Living Payments
You may be entitled to a payment of £150 if you are receiving a disability benefit, such as Attendance Allowance or Disability Living Allowance.
